Important Changes to your Public Good account

As Public Good focuses on our mission to help people take action on the news they care about the most, it means changes to your Public Good account. Here are the key changes happening on December 31, 2019.

For donors

For organizations

If you have any questions about these changes, please let us know at  Thank you for doing good with us. We're looking forward to doing more good going forward!

For donors

We’ll be closing individual donor accounts on December 31, 2019. This means that:

  • There will no longer be a direct login option.
If you go to after these changes take effect, you’ll be able to read about our progress, but there won’t be an option to log into individual accounts. If you need tax receipts from any donations you previously made, just contact us at and we will re-send them.

  • Your credit card information will not be saved.
All credit card information from accounts will be securely purged and will not be saved by our payment processor.
  • Recurring donations will end.
Since we won’t store credit card information, we will no longer support recurring donations. If you have a recurring donation with an organization, please contact them for information on what platform they’d like you to use for your donation.

For organizations
In January, our support for our individual nonprofit fundraising platform will end. Organizations will need to find a new fundraising platform before December 31, 2019 to ensure a smooth transition for your fundraising. All administrator logins will be invalid and donations (including recurring donations) will not be processed. If you need legacy information from your account, please email

In addition, as you know, in August, several important changes already happened:

  1. No more direct deposits
We no longer direct deposit of funds to organizational bank accounts. Instead, YourCause, our partner who operates the donor-advised fund Donatewell, disburses all donations collected through Public Good. By establishing an account with YourCause, your organization can still receive direct deposit of funds donated through Public Good until the end of 2019. If your organization does not establish an account with YourCause, funds collected for your organization will be disbursed via check.

You should communicate with YourCause directly when you have questions concerning your disbursements. You’ll still communicate with Public Good for questions regarding individual donation details as necessary.

We are asking all organizations that have not already done so to establish an account with YourCause.

  2. Fees on donations
Transaction fees on new donations collected through Public Good have changed with the new payment process.

If you would like to understand the new fee schedule in detail, please see this FAQ or feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions.

  3. Recurring donations
Public Good no longer offers new monthly recurring donations. If your organization currently receives monthly recurring donations from existing donors, these donations will continue to recur, with their current fee structure, through December 31, 2019. After that date, all recurring donations will cease. We advise that you contact these donors before the end of the year to establish a new recurring donation plan through other means.

  4. “Featured Campaign” requirement
All nonprofits still fundraising on Public Good need to use a “featured campaign” and not the default campaign all organizations inherited when they were new to Public Good.

  5. New look “Impact Pages”
Campaign pages on have appearance and functionality of our “Impact Pages,” our campaign pages for our media campaigns. You can see a live example of one of these campaigns currently being used by our partners at CNN.

Differences between legacy campaign pages and Impact Pages include:

    - A different design for the page
    - Goals and total donors will no longer be made visible
    - Your donation options will be limited to six amounts with no option for the donor to specify a custom amount.

  6. End of embedded donation forms
We no longer support embedded donation forms.

Until December 31, 2019, you can simply link from your site to the donation form on your organization’s profile page on, which will process donations through YourCause/Donatewell with the new fee schedule as described above.
