What are service costs on donations?

For donations made via CNN articles, there is an optional flat charge of $3.00 per donation to help defray service costs.

For all other donations, service costs include processing fees for Braintree (our payment processor) and The Blackbaud Giving Fund -- formerly DonateWell -- (a nonprofit Donor Advised Fund who distributes the donations). These costs are comparable to other leading platforms. Donors can choose to defray these costs.

Public Good works with The Blackbaud Giving Fund to make sure that donations are handled in compliance with IRS and other relevant regulations. Using The Blackbaud Giving Fund also allows individual donations to be split among several nonprofits and allows Public Good to provide the level of accounting and reporting required by our media partners and sponsors.
